Curriculum
History
Taiji is a 5,000 year old philosophy of health and wellness from which Daoism, Buddhism, Yin and Yang were born. Taiji gave birth to taijiquan — a martial art practiced for nearly 1,500 years. The physical movements of taijiquan are used to teach the health and wellness benefits of the philosophy of Taiji. Taiji is not a religion and as such does not interfere with any religious practices or affiliations.
Philosophy
With Taiji as a guide, we will learn to regulate the Body, Breath, Mind, Qi, and Spirit. Students will be introduced to basic Yin/Yang theory and introductory level Chinese Medicine
Postures
At The Wuji Space, students will be taught a sequence of 108 movements broken into thirds with a beginner’s, intermediate I, and intermediate II class. Each course is an 8 class program. After a student has completed all three courses, they will be invited to the advanced class.
Anatomy
Through the study of Taiji, students will be learn about their muscles, bones, and various other body systems and how to keep them healthy.
Stress Regulation
Students will learn about their autonomic nervous system and their limbic system as well as strategies to keep them healthy and manage their stress.
Meditation
Taiji is considered an active mediation that gives movement to the body, which helps give stillness to the mind.

Physical health
Taiji has been found to help improve cardiovascular health, strengthen bones, support the immune system, improve balance, and so much more.
Mental health
The breathing exercises and active meditations have been linked to vagus nerve stimulation which may help with stress reduction, reduce depression and anxiety, as well as combat symptoms of PTSD.
